Idre Fjäll 2037

A Future Closer to Nature

For over 50 years, the Idre Fjäll Foundation has been a guiding light for nature-based recreation and sustainable employment. Our year-round resort, surrounded by magnificent mountain landscapes and national parks, offers a place for relaxation and adventure. Since 1965, we have promoted outdoor activities and tourism in a responsible way. With pride and dedication, we will continue to be a haven for summer and winter guests seeking nature experiences—for at least another 50 years.

As a foundation, we reinvest all surplus to ensure that more people can experience and protect nature. Through collaboration, we grow sustainably and in harmony with our surroundings.

Idre Fjäll 2037

Our Vision in Practice

More and more people are longing for true mountain experiences, wilderness, and active vacations. At the Idre Fjäll Foundation, we are preparing to meet the growing demand for nature-based experiences.

A Gateway to Living Nature

Growth and preservation can go hand in hand. As more visitors are drawn to our breathtaking mountain landscape, we are committed to ensuring they can experience it responsibly. Since 1965, we have proudly made our small piece of land, surrounded by over 270,000 hectares of national parks and nature reserves (more than 370,000 football fields), accessible to visitors.

To accommodate future visitor numbers, we are developing 1,000 of our 1,400 hectares by 2037. This expansion will include new accommodations, expanded ski areas, activity zones, and additional cycling and hiking trails.

A Hub for a Thriving Community

Our vision creates more job opportunities and keeps the local community vibrant for future generations. At the same time, we enable more people to experience our untouched wilderness and become its ambassadors.

We are also strengthening collaborations with local partners and stakeholders. Together, we aim to make it easy and inspiring for everyone to explore nature in a sustainable and responsible way.

Idre Fjäll 2037 at a Glance

Our largest investment

The total value of investments in accommodations, service buildings, skiing, cycling, and infrastructure by 2037 is estimated at approximately 7.7 billion SEK. Of this, around 1.2 billion SEK will be invested directly by the Idre Fjäll Foundation.

New residential areas

We want to bring more people closer to nature, which is why we are expanding our accommodations with new areas while also upgrading and selectively densifying existing ones. Our plan allows for up to 21,000 new beds, which will be built in phases based on demand.

Expanded skiing experience

Skiing has always been at the heart of Idre Fjäll, and this is reflected in our Idre Fjäll 2037 development plan. With around 20 new slopes, new chairlifts, an additional gondola lift, and 80 kilometers of new cross-country trails, we look forward to offering unforgettable skiing experiences for future generations.

More activities

Idre Fjäll has always been a year-round destination with a wide range of activities, and we are committed to continuing in that spirit. We will further develop new cycling trails and enhance the Skills Area to provide even better experiences for riders of all levels. In 2022, we inaugurated a new outdoor activity area, featuring a renovated outdoor pool, climbing wall, padel courts, outdoor gym, and other spaces designed to inspire movement and joy for both children and adults.

Bike Track for All Levels and Bike Types

Straight Rhythm

In the winter of 2022/2023, the Idre Fjäll Foundation received support from Tillväxtverket to create "Straight Rhythm"—a 350-meter-long, 4-meter-wide track on a gentle slope. Designed with smooth rollers, it serves as a perfect setting for learning, skill development, and fun. The track is accessible to all riders, including handcycles and wheelchairs.

At low speeds, it is classified as a blue-level track, allowing riders to roll through without challenges. The goal is to complete the entire course without braking while keeping both wheels on the ground. The next progression is to ride on the rear wheel between rollers to improve obstacle-handling skills.

The jump sections—including step-ups, step-downs, double jumps, triple jumps, table jumps, and a "dragon’s back"—require skill and should be attempted with caution, preferably under the guidance of an instructor. To master all jumps and reach the red level, riders must maintain higher speeds and execute proper landings.

For the most advanced riders, the track also features a "golden line" with additional challenges.

During winter, Idre Fjäll packs the track with snow to create a simplified ski-cross track, allowing riders to train timing and pumping techniques.

Less Waiting – More Skiing

The Gondola

In the winter of 2023, we inaugurated the Sydgondolen, along with new slopes and a drag lift. This means more runs, shorter queues, and an even better skiing experience.

Sydgondolen has three stations: the valley station at the base of Syd, the mid-station at Västbranten, and the top station at Restaurant Utsikten. The lift consists of 80 gondolas, each accommodating 10 people, with a total capacity of up to 3,000 passengers per hour. The ride to the top spans 2,200 meters and takes approximately 10 minutes.

Two new ski runs have been created in connection with the gondola. They begin at the top station and end at the valley station, transitioning from a red-level slope at the start to a blue-level finish.
